The Challenge

  • The participant was the lead in the People and Culture team at their organisation and was responsible for the HR function.
  • They had minimal to no HR experience and knowledge, particular around legislation, compliance, and what best practice looks like.
  • The workplace the participant was employed at had very minimal to basic HR documentation to support their own role in the business.
  • The participant was the sole HR person for the business.
  • Head Office was international and did not understand the Australian landscape and what ‘HR’ meant onshore. It was more about the people and culture piece rather than the technical, compliance, and legal requirements from an employer perspective.

The Solution

  • Now Actually designed a training program specifically for the participant. The program focused on what the business needed from their HR lead and addressed the present gaps identified in the HR audit.
  • The training was delivered in a way that was personalised to the participant and benefitted their learning style.
  • The training was not generic or copied from a textbook.
  • Practical, real-life scenarios were used to educate the participant.

The program has been incredibly insightful and has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and skills that are essential for my role as the HR People and Culture Lead.
